HAPPY BOXING DAY & TOPSHOP HAUL

Hi, hope you are having a wonderful boxing day and I hope Santa was good to you. :) But also, I hope you managed to grab some bargains in the boxing day sales if you were shopping today! I was out for just over an hour but managed to grab two delicious items from Topshop!
I've wanted a top like this for ever! It is a simple navy striped top which is known as a Breton top. However, this baby has chic little extras with tan suede elbow patches. It was a little too big for me but I like the baggy feel. This top was about 37% off which isn't too bad. I especially want to wear it with a pair of denim shorts and brogues.

Find your own Breton top at:

www.boden.co.uk

www.johnlewis.co.uk - for only £12!

www.asos.com - Pregnant? Don't miss out!

This cape is my proudest buy of the month. I loved the neutral earthy colours plus in Glasgow, you never can have too many cosy coats. I love the fact that it zips up, (believe it or not!). I have a cape I bought earlier in the year and it didn't zip up whereas this cape does. You will not believe how soft the collar is. Proper sheep wool. It was about 60% off the original price. Yum!

I hope you had a fantastic Christmas, take care. x

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I have been monumentally busy but that is no excuse. I'm here right now and just wanted to say have a very very Happy Christmas . My last audition was near the middle of December and thank god I have recovered. London was amazing. I auditioned at the Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and saw London in a different light than before. I was on my own. As usual, I was panicky that I would be raped or attacked but the people I talked to were gentile and kind. I was glad to get back to Glasgow however, as I had been the butt of 'fun sponge' jokes so the moment I arrived back I rejected my 'I'm resting my voice' routine and hit the parties. Drink, pulls, partying. The whole shebang. I was accepted to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formally known as RSAMD) and the Royal Northern College of Music and am yet to hear from Guildhall School of Music; but I am delighted in telling you all (not that there are many of you who read my blog!) that I will be attending RCS in my hometown of Glasgow next year to study voice and I can't bloomin' wait. Next year's going to be fantastic and I'm heading into 2012 with a bang as this year I have finally managed to go to a New Year shindig instead of sitting at home with my parents friends. So from me and my voice (which never shuts up, apologies) I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a fun filled and blessed New Year. Love you all xx

MY BODY'S IN BEDLAM

Gah. I've been ill for about a week now and my sinusitis is showing no interest in departing. I have a Royal College of Music audition on the 29th November and I don't think I can physically go. There's no way on earth I could sing to them right now so I'm praying that it all goes away by the weekend. I'm going to the doctor's on Friday.
Meanwhile, I have been watching a hell of a lot of Glee, Qi and The Simpsons to fill my vacuous days and also playing some gymnopédies and gnossiennes on the piano. <. It is unbelievable how relaxing those pieces are. I've developed a cough as well. :/ The worst thing is, is that I want to go out and go shopping. There are so many new trends hitting shops ready for winter and I can't snatch them! Wait a minute... Winter? Where did autumn go? 31 days I hear you say? 31 days until Christmas!!! This calls for a severe countdown.
Thank you for bearing my rant so graciously. Next post deserves as wee River Island rummage.

MAY I JUST APOLOGIZE

So to all the few who frequently check my blog, may I just apologize profusely for the lack of posts? I've unfortunately been really busy with auditions and haven't had much time for me. Well, today folks is your lucky day. I've landed back on Planet Earth and my blab is back.
So a couple of things that I have been up to:

Despite auditions, I still have had the chance to pop into Boots for a cheeky wee nail polish raid. Usually I go for Model's Own but picked up a Revlon instead. First Revlon I have ever owned, and it sparkles!

I also got emails from all the major conservatoires in the UK telling me when my auditions were! I have the Royal College of Music on the 29th of November. The Royal Northern College of Music on the 7th of December, The Royal Academy of Music on the 8th of December and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama on the 9th of December! Gee Wizz!

I also had my Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly known as RSAMD) on the 7th of November. It went really well even though it was a short audition and now I'm awaiting the results. I really hope I get in and lots of other people have got decisions already from the institution and I'm still waiting at home for my decision to come through. Golly!

Anyway, that's a bit of what I have been up to and my next post will hopefully be soon and full of fashion. Have a good Sunday! xx

FIVE BEST BITS FROM... TOPSHOP and er... TOPMAN

As you can guess from my Topshop haul yesterday, I have become rather addicted to this store. So today, tomorrow and how every long it takes, I'm hoping to show you the five best bits from some of the best and most popular high street shops. Perhaps some that I don't visit like Zara, Karen Millen and Jack Wills. So this could be an insight for you and me.
FAUX CHINCHILLA BOMBER BY UNIQUE - £200.00

I can't ever hope to be able to afford this coat but at least I can stare at it. Right? :) The first word of the title, I think is the best. Faux. Brilliant.

There's nothing better than faux fur; and why use real fur when you can get the exact soft feeling with quality faux fur? I think this coat is really cute even if it look kind of Russian!

This would definitely look good with tights or thigh high socks. Make sure the coat is the main piece. The definite article. It will look so much better then.

Wear with a lot of rings if you feel that vibe or tone it down with a few special statement rings.

SET OF THREE NAIL POLISHES - £12.00

I think one of the best things Topshop have come out with recently is their make up line. Genius. I currently haven't bought any of it yet but I'm definitely at some going to purchase their nail colours. This box of three includes: Gypsy Night, Silver  Bullet and Utilitarian. They're those delicious 'ugly' colours that look great during autumn and winter. Plus they're each nail polish is £5 and this bunch is sold for only £12!

JANCEY SUEDE HEELED BALLET PUMPS - £42.00

If you browse hard enough in through Topshop's website, you will delve past all those stilettos, heels, wedges and come across ever so often chic and beautiful flats and pumps.

I love these particularly because they're such a twist on the simple and quite often 'boring' pump. I love the little block heel which gives it such a Stella McCartney feel.

They come in red and black as well. I would be tempted to wear the black pair to school but I think the blue and red pairs can complement a pair of beige trousers of chic cut offs. Very Audrey Hepburn!

The best thing about these shoes, they can be worn summer and winter and are very adaptable to most outfits. Make sure you splash out for a good suede protector to prevent horrible rain storms spoiling them.

BROWN DIAMOND PATTERN CREW - £40.00

Oh yes. I popped onto the Topman website. ... I couldn't help myself! I got this habit from fellow youtuber and blogger, ThePersianBabe. I've been shopping with my guy friends a couple of times and surprisingly enough, they didn't seem to bothered about me following them into Topman. Hehe. :)

Well this jumper, I found and thought it was just so cute. You could team it with boyfriend jeans and a pair of brogues; finish it off with some RayBans and you've really got the urban edge.

It may be a guy jumper but who cares? Girlfriends have been pinching their boyfriend's clothes for ages and will continue! If you are ever in Topman, don't forget to check out their jewellery line, they have some really good rings and bracelets. And the best thing is, not many men have thin fingers so quite often the 'small' rings are left and fit girls perfectly!

WING AND CHAIN EAR CUFF - £6.50

I couldn't forget some jewellery, could I? I saw Kylie Jenner wearing one of these recently on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. (Yes, I do on occasions watch such drivel.)

I jumped for joy when I saw it in Topshop and put the cuff around my cartilage. Unfortunately, it doesn't stay there. Do I just have thin ears? But I couldn't not post this accessory just because I love it so much despite it not fitting my ear!

This would look great with that rocker chic look. Maybe put a simple silver stud in the other ear to keep it simple?

Whatever your style, please leave a comment telling me how you would team these items and maybe stuff that you have found on the Topshop website that you like. Thanks, bye! :)

TOPSHOP HAUL :)

I went to Topshop today! Woohoo! What a boost. Bought some really lovely things and decided to put a post up about them. I've never done a haul before, they seem really popular on YouTube, but mine is going to be a written one. I was looking at another person's blog on Blogger and realised that a month ago I would have longed for a blog like hers, with cool designs and lots of followers and good pictures and comments but now I realise that no matter how few people are reading this blog, I still enjoy it; and I still enjoy how I put it together. :) Everything that I bought was in the sale, so I might not be able to put a link. The first thing I bought was a really cute gathered mini skirt. It reminds me of a shorter version of a 70's style and 60's pattern all rolled into one!
This little beauty cost me around £15. I love the buttons down the front. I think they make the skirts quite like a 70s skirt. Denim skirts with buttons down the front - as seen on Claudia Schiffer - are very fashionable right now and journey back to the 70s when denim, jumpers and blazers were all the rage. I think this would look lovely with an off red body con top and some nude beige sandals for summer. For winter, you could team it with black, plum or blue tights and leather ankle boots with a fur lining; on the top you could wear a leather jacket and navy polo or just a heavy knit if it is more of an autumn evening. Whatever the weather, this lovely little skirt is very adaptable.

Here are a couple of addresses for buttoned skirts:

http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/79639

http://www.marisota.co.uk/

http://www.jdwilliams.co.uk/

I really love this top. It's a size 8 and from Topshop Petite. I'm sure every girl loves shopping and finding clothes that are marked at several sizes lower than their normal size and it fits perfectly! It's such a treat. BEWARE Large Breasted Girls!!! I'm afraid this is not the top for you. It looks best with boob sizes from AA to C. But seriously, I love this top. For starters the Peter Pan style collar is really fashionable at the moment and the grey colour makes hazelnut and brunette hair shine and look rich in colour. Match it in summer with a cute pair of denim shorts and some preppy sandals or pumps. In winter, try putting it together with a cute little miniskirt or tuck it into a flowing ankle length skirt; finally finish the look off with a pair of brogues or wedges. This look would also look really good with a pleated black full length skirt and a pair of sturdy winter boots with a heel. Not sure why, but this top reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw!

Here are other Peter Pan collared clothes:

http://www.bankfashion.co.uk/product/ribbon-lace-peter-pan-collar-chiffon-top/

This is my last item. I was determined at some point to own something with The Beatles on it. Whether it be a cushion, a top, a clock, even a pair of shoes. So I was happy to find a tee on sale. I'm hoping it will look really good with the buttoned skirt I got up top. I'm also planning to use it as one half to a pair of pyjamas, as it is pretty huge. Try wearing it with a pair of skinny stone washed jeans and flip flops. Or go with a rocker edge and add some jewellery and a pair of converses. Or like me, make it kooky instead of rocky and wear it with a gathered or flared waist skirt and silver jewellery and some cute socks in a bright red or light blue. Whatever you do to this look to make it your own, remember, you're wearing The Beatles and that can never got out of style! ;)

Here are some clothes with famous people on them:

Have a good day and please keep reading my blog :)

MODELS OWN IT or is it just us?

I got stood up. Yes, about ten minutes ago. Not in the usual way, guy decides he's not interested, guy doesn't call etc. No, by one of my best friends. Was actually looking forward to seeing her today since the rest of the week so far has been less than eventful and also because for once, the shoddy weather in this city actually decided to clean up. So anyways, I'm stuck at home. Again. Whatever.
Last Saturday, I popped into Boots and got two new nail polishes from Models Own!! Woop. I got a simple Snow White polish and a sparkly peachy one in Golden Peach. Isn't it divine? <3 In matte light,
it looks a very light pink, almost a barbie pink, and then in the sun it becomes a pinky orange colour with golden sparkles. It cheers me up :)
I've only got two other Models Own colours, Lilac Dream and Snow White. They cost a fiver each which I think is quite dear but the colours are awesome and the coverage is very good too. Check it out, http://www.modelsownit.com/. They do make up too! :)

SHOE SERIES ∆ www.theoutnet.com/ GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI

Okay, enough with the negativity and enough with the heels. I can just about drool as much over a pair of flats instead of a pair of platforms. To the average fashion geek, these S/S sandals are noticeably Giuseppe Zanotti. The striking yellow rose perched in the middle of the zesty orange structure is created using material and a zip. It appears frequently on Zanotti's creations including the Bodler embellished ballerina flats in blue and the Bodler zip-embellished pumps, which come in red and beige. I'm not lying, these sandals are extremely dear at £410 - now selling for 55% off at £184 at this website. I don't like spending masses so I've come up with a rather neat idea.

1) Pop into Primark, buy a pair of cheap sandals in a bright colour (there were loads of colours last S/S)
2) Go to your local haberdashery store (John Lewis maybe) and purchase some yellow material and a zip of the same colour.
3) Sew the zip onto the edge of the material and fold and curl the fabric to create a round rose shape.
4) Sew it together so as to keep the design and using a hefty
amount of thread, attach it the the middle of the sandals.
5) HEY PRESTO! A new, expensive looking pair of sandals. :)

SHOE SERIES ∆ www.theoutnet.com/ MARNI

These are possibly the cutest wedges I've come across this autumn. A wedgey and clog mix, this shoe is definitely something I would wear on a warm October day... except for one thing. The beige coloured material that covers a large majority of the shoe is calf skin. This is unacceptable. And a factor that prevents me from wearing these pairs of shoes. I frequently walk past beautiful sets of fur coats in various vintage shops and even though the feel of the material is delightful, it's so upsetting thinking of innocent animals being skinned just so we can look a bit more expensive or a bit more 'beautiful'. I am totally 100% against real fur. And you should be too.
I'm not discriminating Marni, or insulting them in any way because so many designers use fur, snakeskin, leather, etc. But just for a moment, before you buy those shoes or bags or coats, think about the way they kill the animals and how inhumane it is. For more information, please check out PeTA. Thank you.

SHOE SERIES ∆ www.theoutnet.com/ STELLA MCCARTNEY

Is it bad to want these? These gorgeous leather thigh high boots courtesy of Stella McCartney, have not been around for long. These beauties have arrived back in 2011 and are priced at just over £1,000. Which is blooming likely considering them. Blake Lively was caught in them only recently but unfortunately these leather tubes will only suit you if you're stick thin as quite a lot of designer things do. If you are one of the workaholics or privileged beings that can afford them then wear with oversized boy shirts and blazers. Or denim hot pants and an oversized cape or coat. Check out the Stella McCartney website for many other deliciously desirable shoes.

Sunday 16 October 2011

SHOE SERIES ∆ www.theoutnet.com/ SIGERSON MORRISON

The first website I'll be focusing on is theoutnet. It's a great site which at the moment has 70% off all shoes and at weekends 40% off on prints. It stocks items from Jil Sander to Alexander Wang and is definitely a site to check out.
I found these gorgeous heels that channel the time of Twiggy and the swinging 60s. They're so beautiful and at 55% off at £171 from Sigerson Morrison, I'm desperate to purchase these beauties. They would look beautiful and stylish with a spangly minidress but could also be styled using ultra thin skinnies and an oversized knit. Perfect.

Heads Up.

It feels like an absolute age since my last blog but to be fair it is only a week. My blog hasn't been that great so far and I know why. My life isn't exciting enough! So while I'm off trying to make my personal life better; I'm writing about designers, beauty, fashion, clothes, music, films, entertainment, anything. Obviously there hopefully will be the occasional post about my life, but that's okay because some days things that happen are interesting and other days they're not. So this is a ^^ heads up ^^ saying that my blog is just about to get a hell of a lot better!
I've been drafting since my last post but everything that I write just seems boring and useless. So I've created a new regime. SERIES. I'm going to start off with a shoe series as I was looking at an advertised website with 65-70% discount off designer shoes. There are some adorable pairs at theoutnet.com which I thought I'd talk about. Plus I'm a sucker for beauty and cool gadgets that have just come out. Plus off the radar musicians. I especially love songs that I find while watching films or TV shows. So if you stay tuned I'll be writing about all these things and if I get enough readers then maybe you'll start requesting. That would be nice. :)

Saturday 8 October 2011

Rain, rain, go away; come again another day.

<< Isn't this bleak? The torrents that are currently enclosing in on us in western Glasgow. It's been a good couple of days. ! Just finished a sluggish day at  but came back to half a mars bar and my deliciously inviting bed.
Unfortunately let someone down at juniors, he knows who he is and 'I promise ______ (insert name here) that next week will be more bountiful' *wink* ... So anyway started off the blogfest with a bit of Michelle Branch and have now moved on to Diana Ross! Crazy place! I'm still going as Britney on Thursday incase you were wondering and I promise that I'll put a picture up. Sorry this is a short blog, but why waffle?

Tuesday 4 October 2011

'John, Paul, Ringo and George. The only boys you'll ever need.'

Britney Spears was so yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I'm still dressing up as her but my ears and eyes will always be stuck on the likes of The BeeGees, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Boomtown Rats - what was the obsession with the letter 'b' back then? I still believe that I was born in the wrong decade. I channel 70s and 90s clothes and the only music I ever obsess with is classical and the 60s and 70s.
I was about to entitle this blog 'George Harrison, take me now!' but then I realised that I really can't decide which Beatle is the most attractive. I mean John has pretty much given his all to Yoko Ono, Paul is the one everybody likes so I thought he didn't deserve my affections, George is awfully cute but most of the pictures on Google make him look a bit creepy and Ringo has inherited the largest nose I have ever set eyes on. But they are still all beautiful in their own way! So I dedicated this blog to the entire clan and their spine throbbing, head moshing, heart wrenching melodies that fill my days.
Oh Ringo, darling Ringo, you have won my heart...

Monday 3 October 2011

It's Britney Bitch, so you better Hit Me Baby One More Time because Oops, I Did It Again, I played with your heart and got lost in the game so you know that I'm Toxic.

As you can guess from the 'super subtle title'; not. This blog entry is about Britney Spears. Well really the fact that we are having a fancy dress day at school and I'm desperate to go as Britney. I've checked out her Hit Me Baby One More Time music video and it's the school outfit she wears that I want to create. :) Should be a blast! Any tips on recreating?
More news, I heard that Kaya Scodelario - who played Effy in 'Skins' - is going to be playing Catherine Earnshaw the leading lady in 'Wuthering Heights'. Is this a mistake? I'm sure that it's not only me who has moulded her in the character of Effy forever, so should we give her a chance at a period drama OR is it the worst thing imaginable? I'm not discriminating her talent. After all, Skins wasn't the most difficult tv show to act in. I think I'm undecided. She'll either be absolutely diabolical, or she'll surprise us...
See what Kaya has to say.

Friday 30 September 2011

What an odd turn of events

I'm absolutely exhausted and it's only 9:30pm. My last post was on the 24th of September and even though all I wanted to do was curl up in bed I persuaded myself to write my blog. I'm getting no comments and I have only one follower, but something told me that these page views and comments don't happen overnight (unless you're Stephen Fry) and so eyelids drooping, concentration lacking, I still bothered to put fingers to keys rather than pen to paper.
Quite a bit has happened over the past week-ish. I sent off CUKAS, Guildhall and Royal Academy, and now all I have to do is wait for audition confirmation. Oo-er. This is really happening. I'm quite nervous and petrified to be honest. So I'll give you a brief summary of the week so far. On Sunday, I relaxed as much as I could then went to bed realising that I hadn't analysed a poem for Monday. On Monday, I realised once more that it was a extended weekend holiday and therefore would miss poetry. Wahaay! On Tuesday... Eugh I can't go on a I'm pretty sure (if anyone's reading this) that you can't be bothered either! I tried water marbling the other day and I think it came out rather well! (you can make your own mind up about that :) )

Saturday 24 September 2011

20% is heaven sent.

So I popped round to RCS for a mock audition today and at 16:25 when that shindig was finally over, I scooted over to Topshop praying that the 20% discount for all students was on. Hey presto! Ended up getting these overly cute thigh high socks in a cool burgundy for £4.80 which for Topshop is pretty beast. Even went to Topman with my friend Bob as he wanted a new tee and I had to pick one out for him. There wasn't much there that took my fancy, I usually trot over to the jewellery as they usually have really nice rings but not today. Actually had a fit when the lady at the till said 20% off was only for Topman...
Grabbed lunch from Boots today as natural since it is so blooming cheap. Got this really odd smoothie that has 3 1/2 apples, 1 banana, 2/3 kiwi, 1/3 mango, 1 slice of pineapple and...wait for it... blue green algae. It thought that was the most poisonous form of algae. Confused. Anyway, despite the horrific colour this smoothie tastes absolutely delicious. So don't judge a smoothie by its casing. Go on, stop playing chicken.

Friday 23 September 2011

Nail Fail

It's a bit iffy outside. Wet with that earthy smell - as usual. I watched The A-Team for the first time last night. Wasn't too bad and I must admit Bradley Cooper has a very nice torso but it didn't quite hit the right spot for me. Action films have never been my ideal evening cuddle up film.
I'm trying to persuade myself to go out today but I'm really not feeling it. I thought I would take my dog to the Botanics or go shopping but it's already 1pm and I don't like going shopping in the afternoon. I have RCS Juniors (all explained in 'Me (just in case)') tomorrow afternoon which is in town so I might just go shopping then instead. Painted my nails though.
Went for a midnight purple called 'Vivid Purple 161' from Barry M as the base coat and then used 'Blue Glitter 297' for a glitter gradient look. Didn't quite workout and I'm not sure I'm digging bright blue over dark purple. :/ However, the two colours separately look really nice and I know for a fact unlike the green lipstick, Barry M still sells them :)
They are priced at £2.99 each which for amazing quality and coverage is an unbeatable price. I don't want to sound like one of those adverts, but seriously think about trying their nail polish if you haven't already. Hey, ho. Lunch calls.

Thursday 22 September 2011

HOLIDAY and Quavers

It's Thursday and it's a holiday!!! I found a beautiful lipstick that I haven't used in ages and the amazing thing is, the green turns pink when warm so you get this beautiful and v. flattering hot pink. Wanted to do a couple of beauty or fashion posts so this is my first more or less. Preeeeetty.
It's Barry M called Touch of Magic in Green (though it only comes in one colour) :p I think it really complements blondes to mouse to chestnut very well. Anyway, we finished school today and were in town (because of a commemoration service shindig) so naturally and pelted towards Topshop and I don't want too many pictures on this post, but may I just say that the jewellery and jumpers and coats and headwear on show was delicious. Plus if you live in Glasgow, they have 20% off limited discount for students. HURRAH! I'm rushing there on Saturday. Below is another photo which I thought was kinda cute. Have a nice day :)
Sorry folks, I don't think Barry M has it any longer but you might find it on eBay. However, they do actually stock a *real* green lipstick on their website, and a blue one!

Monday 19 September 2011

Hello All, woe is me for loving crisps.

Might not be able to blog for a week or so, so popped up one now. Hope you're all doing well (anyone who actually reads my blog which I think is very few:( ) Got approached for another solo today by my 6th year adviser - the legendary, hilarious, tiny, german/french teaching Mr. Bennie - who asked me to do a wee cantata at Christmas. I also have another gig to sing a carol and a big church event at Christmas also so goodness knows how I'm going to fit those in during my auditions (everything about that is explained in 'Me') I'm proper stressing about the CUKAS application and the auditions but hopefully will do well. Just ate two packets of crisps then realised I had one this morning. Oh help, I love them sooooooooo much. < I'm quite repulsed by my lack of self control. P.S. << That could be were I'm studying in less than a years time!!!

Sunday 18 September 2011

Happy Sunday

Yesterday was tough. I'm not gonna lie. But I think I'll put it all in 'About' instead of polluting this post with bad vibes. I've got a few images to put up which I just think are pretty and this is going to be quite laid back. I've recently got into watching ellen with Ellen DeGeneres. Not her talk show which I do like but her t.v. show that made her so big. She's so funny! It's 9:59am right now and I'm just relaxing in my favourite mustard jumper with Taylor Swift on my vintage patterned sheets which could be vintage bought as well! (They've been washed and used since I was teeny tiny!) The picture of the girl that I put up is just an outfit that I like so I drew it (what I often do :p) Anyway, I hope you all have a good day. I'm out to lunch with my friend at 1ish and then off to see Jane Eyre. Might pick up something at Vintage Guru. xx

Urban Outfitters and Head (not what you think, cheeky)

I said I would mention Urban Outfitters at some point and right enough I'm doing so now. After a school day lacking in vigour and amusement I strode home and hopped on the ole internet for a quick browse. Urban have got so many luuuuuurvely new things and please check out the website (link down under). I had a look at the New In stock and found this divine duffle coat. It's such a shame that it's so expensive. Which got me thinking... American Apparel doesn't have prices as high as that which made me realise that I was looking at Urban instead of American Apparel! What a noob. Do you ever do that? Type something into Google, meaning it to be something else and then only just realising after a proper 5 minutes? ... Okey dokey, just me then. There is absolutely no possible way I can afford that coat so this Sunday I'm off to Oxfam. So lame but that's life.
With regards to 'Head'; I don't mean the sexual act given to a human of the male species. I actually mean Michael Head the composer. (I know, totally agree; really unfortunate surname. Which I found out suddenly after singing some of his pieces during my singing lesson and then gazing into the distance saying 'I love head'. Oo-er. Bad move). In fact I just wanted to share my love for one of his really sophisticated and beautiful pieces. 'The Singer'. Hellish rhythm and mean time signature; but one of the most delightful stories to date.

Monday 12 September 2011

Our hurricanes are lame.

So you think hurricanes occur in the Caribbean and America? Right? Wrong. According to BBC News, Ireland and the north west of Scotland on September 11th 2011 were to be hit by Hurricane Katia. So you can believe the immense excitement of grubby fourteen year old boys as they headed off to school and the sheer fear of their parents. It was neither one or the other for me, hurricane? Meh.
At school today, it was more or less monsoon season. The rain fell in unwelcome vats and every girl at my school had their kilts whipped up at some time during the day, but there was no real difference to the normal september/october day in the west of Scotland. I had a friend once who came back from a tropical jungle during the summer and said that the monsoon season there was better than in Glasgow!
So unfortunately, no terrifying cones of wind circled the coast and no houses were ripped apart, - not that that would have been a good thing - just a couple of bins fell over and there were occasional roof creaks. The normal day at school... except I got a lollipop when I arrived home.

The Overdue Roast

No matter how hard I try it seems impossible to come up with a decent name for this magnificent wall of words. A large number of pathetic names have crossed my mind and the consumption of prawn cocktail crisps, coffee and the tuneful notes of Yasmin aren't helping much. I attempted to snaffle Lily Melrose's idea 'LLYMLRS' from http://www.llymlrs.com/ but I knew that was possibly bordering on fraud! So as she took her name from her email address, I took my title from mine. Hahahah. Awful. I'm hoping as time passes and creative juices start to flow I will invent a better title but generally it's not the title, it's what is inside that counts. So I hope what I am writing is good banter.

But to henceforth commence with the overdue roast. As tradition stands, each British family after a brisk walk to church sits down and devours a chicken and vegetable clad spread with animated chatter. This has been frequently avoided during my sundays in this house but today - while my poor friends are team building in the glacial waters of Loch Lomond - I am reveling in a delicious sunday roast.

12:00pm - waiting patiently for lunch.
13:30pm - watching Keeping Up Appearances to numb hunger.
13:56pm - getting fidgety
14:21pm - Lunch awaits!

Blunt. Short. Sweet. Davidona.

I like writing. Simple as. I'm a 17 year old blonde. I don't smoke. I'm single. And have my life planned out in front of me until the age of thirty. Pathetic. But the way I like to live. I like Urban Outfitters - which I hope will appear a lot more in this blog soon - and every single time I walk into Topshop, I could buy everything inside. I don't have a lot of money so I find bargains where I can and weep when walking away from a reduced pair of Christian Louboutins in Frasers
I sing. That's the first aspect of me that you'll hear from anybody who knows me well and that I'm pretty damn good at it. That coming from their mouths rather than mine. I live in Glasgow. Would like to live in London for a bit which might happen within in a year. Who knows? So keep reading. I'll try and blog as much as possible and hopefully will still be talking to you in a year!
